Mariposa Monarca – Monarch Butterfly Exhibit
September 29–Nov. 11 
3 shifts, 7 days per week; 9 am – 5 pm, 5 per shift
3-hour training required | Sept. 18 or 20, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Plant Sale set up

Fall Plant Sale
October 17, 18, 19 
  
2 shifts day; 10 per shift | 7 a.m. – 12 p.m., 12 - 5 p.m.
 
The Great Pumpkin Festival
October 24, 25, 26
       
2 shifts a day; 26 per shift | 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 12 – 3 p.m.

Hosts for Chihuly: The Nature of Glass exhibition
Nov. 22, 2008 – May 31, 2009

3 shifts, 7 days per week; 6 per shift

Las Noches de las Luminarias
Nov. 28 – Dec. 23 
  
Ticket takers and path guides
2 shifts, 20 per shift
| 4:30 p.m. | 7:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. -10 p.m. 

Kids’ Corner
Saturday and Sunday | 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. | October through May
Volunteers will help with science activities and crafts, discovery tables, stories, and face painting.  Shifts are either 9:30-12:30 or 12 noon – 3 p.m. 

Assembling School Supplies
Monday – Sunday | 8 a.m. to 5 pm., whenever convenient  
Assembling resource materials used with school tours.

CURRENT DROP-IN OPPORTUNTIES
Groups are encouraged to help on a variety of Garden activities including mailings, festivals, special events and one-day projects.

SCHOOL RESOURCE MATERIALS
Our Education programs serve over 40,000 school children each year and we need help preparing a variety of materials for tours.

  • Preparing booklets
  • Making “magic” bags for kindergarten tours
  • Creating bead bracelets for elementary school tours

TEEN Volunteer Group - Teen Environmentalists Exploring Nature
This new program is made up of 12-17-year-olds who volunteer regularly at the Garden.  For more information, contact Nancy White at 480-481-8197 or email nwhite@dbg.org.

How to be a DBG Volunteer
The Desert Botanical Garden is an exciting place and volunteers are needed in every area of activity. Learn all about being a Volunteer in the Garden at one of the following meeting dates.  Adults and teens (12 and older) are needed.

January 10, 13, 15, or 17 / 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Volunteer opportunities include weekday, weekend, morning and afternoon programs. There
are exciting volunteer opportunities for youth, 12 years and older. TEENs – Teen Environmentalists Exploring Nature--volunteer at the Garden on an ongoing basis.
